| Making Money With Google Adsense |
|
How does Google Adsense work? If you're not already familiar with their pay-per-click advertising model, basically, Google Adsense publishers will receive money when website visitors click on relevant ads placed within the Google Adsense code. Publishers place the code in areas of their websites where it will be visible, and visitors will see the advertisements, and if they pique the interest of the reader, they might be inclined to click on that ad, generating some amount of money for the publisher, calculated by several factors in the market, mostly dependent upon the keyword or keywords. Many entrepreneurial types go one step further, and offer Google Adsense advice in order for the publishers to increase those revenues on those same sites using those same Google ads. Now, I'm a person who is more interested in pulling money in, rather than giving it away, so I'm less inclined to purchase a book that is going to tell me much of the same information that many free resources are able to provide. For example, Google itself offers optimization reports to Google Adsense publishers, suggesting methods for them to improve on their CTR. It also suggests what types of ads to use, and where to place them. This seems simple enough. Also, there are many other websites, forums, and other sources that will happily tell you how they are successful at increasing their revenue through Adsense. After all, there's lots of money to go around, and by telling you their so-called secrets, they're confident that they're not going to lose any business, because the Google Adsense program targets every business niche. But what are these secrets? Well, they're not really secrets at all. Basically, to make money, the ads need to be seen by the visitor, and they have to want to click on that ad, so it has to be something they're interested in. It's called targeted marketing. The visitors that come to your website should be targeted. They should be there because they're interested in the content that you are providing. Somehow, those people were targeted, because you had something they wanted, whether it's an interesting article, a video, a picture, contact information, or something else that they wanted or needed. And now that they've arrived on your site, Google Ads should be offering them something of interest, something strong enough to make them leave your site. One of the catches with Google Adsense, is that you can't encourage people to click on the ads, and you can't incentivize any of it. The traffic has to be natural, which makes sense, because someone else is paying for that targeted visitor to come visit their website, which should be just as targeted to them, as that visitor was to you. Still follow? Ultimately, the best way to make money using Google Adsense is to get enough people to visit your website, and when they're through with you and ready to move to the next site, you want it to be the paid-for targeted Google Adsense site that you have prominently posted on your pages. If you do that, you'll have already saved $20 or $30 by not buying a book on the subject. |

The Google Adsense program has been around for a few years, and many webmasters are satisfied with the revenue that their websites generate using this program, but there are always ways to improve upon the click-thru rate (CTR).
